SSE Hydro - World Gymnastics Championships 2015

The SSE Hydro welcomes the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. The unique arena officially opened in 2013, has a capacity of 13,000, and it is located on the site of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). As per any World Championships prior to the Olympic year, the Championships in Glasgow serves as the first of two qualification rounds for gymnasts to the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio, Brazil.

The very first World Gymnastics Championships took place in Antwerp, Belgium in 1903. Now, over 100 years later, we are witnessing over 500 gymnasts from all over the world competing at the 46th World Gymnastics Championships from 23 October - 1 November 2015. It all starts with 4 days of qualification events followed by 6 days of finals where gymnasts competes in Team, All-Around and individual Apparatus Events.

Kōhei Uchimura (Japanese artistic gymnast, who was born on 3rd of January, 1989 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture) won his 6th World All-Around Title (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015) and is considered to be the greatest gymnast of all time. Uchimura is a five-time Olympic medalist (All-Around - 1 Gold and 1 Silver; Team 2 Silver medals and on Floor - 1 Silver medal), and a 19-time World medalist (All-around - 6 Gold medals; Team - 3 Silver and 1 Gold medals; Floor 1 Bronze, 1 Silver and 1 Gold; Horizontal Bar - 2 Bronze, 1 Silver and 1 Gold; and Parallel Bars - 1 Bronze and 1 Gold medal).

Simone Biles (born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio USA) became the first woman to win three consecutive world all-around titles in 2013, 2014 and now the Women's All-Around Final in 2015. Simone Arianne Biles has now 14 medals (10 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze) from World Championships.

Japan won the Men's Team Final for the first time since 1978 and the United States defended its Women's Team title. The Women's Uneven Bars produced the first four-way tie for gold at a World Gymnastics Championship ever.
